Professor Isabelle Barthélémy has been re-elected by her peers as Chair of the Medical Committee (CME) of the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital for a new four-year term.
The first woman to hold this position in Clermont-Ferrand in 2021, her reappointment reflects the renewed trust of the medical community in her commitment, strategic vision, and ability to unite medical teams around the major challenges facing the institution.
Holder of the DES in maxillofacial surgery and stomatology, a DESC in dento-maxillofacial orthopedics, and the Diploma of the College of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, Professor Barthélémy began her hospital-university career in Toulouse before joining the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital in 1997. She became a university hospital professor-practitioner in 2003 and then head of the maxillofacial surgery and stomatology department in 2013.
As Chair of the Medical Committee (CME), she also serves as First Vice-Chair of the hospital board alongside the Chief Executive Officer, Madame Valérie Durand Roche. Together, they work on defining and implementing the hospital’s medical strategy, fostering a continuous improvement dynamic in the quality and safety of care.

This re-election coincides with a strategic milestone for the institution: the drafting of the new medical project and the institutional project, which will define the major directions for the University Hospital over the coming years. The 2026 challenges already include the successful Certification visit by the H.A.S. (French National Authority for Health) and the evaluation of the University Hospital by Hcéres (the French Higher Education and Research Evaluation Agency).
Professor Barthélémy is thus determined to champion the ambitions of the medical community at Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital, closely aligned with the priorities of research, innovation, training, and regional cooperation—elements she also supports as Chair of the C.M.G. “Territoires d’Auvergne.”
She will be supported in her role by Dr. Daniel Terral, a pediatrician appointed Vice-Chair of the CME, whose experience and commitment to pediatric medicine will enrich the work of this strategic body.
