Community living rules

The entire hospital organization is at your service to provide you with quality care. You are expected to respect the facility, its staff, and its technical resources.

Read the internal regulations of the CHU of Clermont-Ferrand.

internal regulations

Respect for premises and staff

The entire hospital structure (staff and technical resources) is at your disposal to provide you with quality care.

You must respect the integrity and cleanliness of the premises and equipment: any damage may be charged to you and may lead to legal action. You must also respect the staff who are taking care of you. Sanctions are provided for by law and may be pursued by the institution.

Corridors are not playgrounds, parking areas (for scooters, bicycles, etc.), or sidewalks (do not dirty them with food, spit, your shoes, etc.). Keep the toilets clean.

Hygiene rules

Visitors entering a room must disinfect their hands with a hydroalcoholic solution. Visitors accompanying a patient are advised not to come to the hospital if they are contagious (flu, cold, gastroenteritis, chickenpox, etc.). If you have no choice but to come, you are required to follow all current mask-wearing guidelines.

For the patient's safety, visitors are asked not to lie down or sit on the beds and not to place their feet on hospital equipment. To limit the spread of germs, visitors are not allowed to bring children under the age of 15.

Cigarettes and vaping

In accordance with the law, smoking is strictly prohibited within the facility (common areas and rooms), including the use of electronic cigarettes.

The CHU is part of the “Smoke-Free Hospital” network. Smoking cessation consultations are available to the public, and tobacco addiction specialist nurses can assist you either during or outside of your hospital stay.

Vigipirate Plan and Security

Vigilance is everyone’s responsibility. Each individual (staff, patients, visitors, etc.) plays a role in their own safety and contributes through their behavior to the prevention and protection of all against threats to people and property.

  • Do not leave your personal belongings unattended;
  • Report any luggage or package that appears to be abandoned to the staff;
  • Do not accept any package or luggage from a stranger;
  • Report any person displaying inappropriate or suspicious behavior to the staff;
  • Cooperate with security checks;
  • Respect any access restrictions or visitor limits (these measures may vary depending on the department and the level of risk);
  • Follow the instructions given by security personnel.

Your safety is ensured by a surveillance team made up of CHU agents, who can be reached at any time through the security control center. In case of a problem, promptly inform the head nurse or the nurse in charge of your hospital unit.

Please note that the CHU declines all responsibility in the event of loss or theft of your valuables, prostheses, or personal belongings.

Traffic and parking

The rules of the highway code apply on the roadways within the various CHU facilities. Your speed must be reduced and must not exceed 25 km/h. You must obey all traffic signs.

If you use the parking areas within the CHU:

  • Ambulances and emergency vehicles must be able to circulate without obstruction;
  • Any vehicle parked outside designated parking spaces or in spots reserved for people with disabilities may be fined or towed;
  • As with any public parking area, do not leave any visible items in your car. The CHU is not responsible for theft or any damage to your vehicle.

Respect for people with disabilities

If your vehicle is parked in a space reserved for people with disabilities without authorization, your license plate has been recorded: in the event of a repeat offense, your vehicle will be immediately towed.

Disturbances and noise

For the peace and quiet of patients, we ask you to:

  1. Respect those around you and avoid causing disturbances, especially noise from radios or televisions, or from your visitors, whose number should be limited (two per room).
  2. Ensure that you, your companions, and any visitors follow the specific fire safety and hygiene instructions displayed in all CHU departments.

Right to image protection

The hospital may authorize the production of reports within its departments. If you are approached, this can only be done with your express permission, and for children or protected adults, with written consent from their legal representative.

On the other hand, you must respect the right to privacy. No staff member or patient may be recorded, photographed, or filmed without their express, free, and informed consent, regardless of the means used (including phones). The publication of such recordings on any platform (including the internet) is only permitted with the person's consent.
